## General

The SmartMeter² variants 1182-85 and 1182-800 differ in practical use only by the current transformers used. Therefore, it is important to set the *Transformer type* parameter correctly for proper operation.

Transformer type: This setting must match the hardware in use. It is relevant for both the 1182-85 and 1182-800 variants as well as when using custom current transformers. Please note that standard current transformers with 1 A or 5 A secondary current cannot be used.

**Caution**: Only transformers with a secondary current below 58 mA may be used. Connecting transformers with a higher secondary current will damage the SmartMeter².

TN or IT system: When using the smart meter in a system with neutral conductor, the TN system parameter must be selected. With this setting, the 3 phases and the neutral conductor must be connected to the smart meter. This is the standard in the EU.
IT systems do not have a neutral conductor. In this case, only the 3 phases must be connected and the IT system parameter must be selected. The neutral conductor terminal remains unused.

The mains frequency can be set to 50 Hz or 60 Hz to match the installation.

The current direction of each phase can be inverted, for example to correct a reversed current transformer connection in software.

The *telegram rate limit* limits the number of telegrams sent by the device per second. The *delay after device start* can be used to deliberately postpone transmission after a restart.

The input communication objects can accept date, time, or date and time from the bus. If *Request date / time on device restart* is enabled, the device sends a request telegram after restarting. Its polarity can be configured.

The data types for energy, voltage and current can be defined here globally for all objects of the device.

For active power measurement, additional unsigned objects for generation and consumption can also be enabled.
